HORN SWITCH
DESCRIPTION
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with an airbag, refer to restraint systems for warnings and cautions before servicing the horn switch.
The horn switch is mounted under the driver airbag. The horn switch has three contacts that are grounded when the driver airbag is depressed.
OPERATION
When the Driver Airbag Cover is pressed, the horn switch grounds through the clockspring. The ground signal is carried to the horn relay and the horn sounds. The horn switch grounds to the airbag housing.
REMOVAL
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with an airbag, refer to restraint systems for warnings and cautions before servicing the horn switch.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the driver airbag. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS/DRIVER AIRBAG - REMOVAL) .
3. Disconnect the horn plate connector.
4. Remove the three mounting fasteners.
5. Remove the horn switch.
INSTALLATION

1. Install the horn switch.
2. Install the three mounting fasteners.
3. Connect the horn plate connector.
4. Install the driver airbag. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS/DRIVER AIRBAG - INSTALLATION)
5. Connect the battery negative cable.
