INSTALLATION
BULB - DOMESTIC
CAUTION: Always use the correct bulb size and type for replacement. An incorrect bulb size or type may overheat and cause damage to the lamp, the socket or the lamp wiring.

NOTE: The rear lamp unit for domestic markets (1) contains two bulbs: park/rear side marker/stop/turn signal (2) and backup (3). The service procedures for each bulb are the same, only the bulb sizes and types may differ.
1. Align the base of the bulb with the (2 or 3).
2. Push the bulb straight into the socket until the base is firmly seated.
3. Align the socket and bulb with the keyed opening on the back of the rear lamp unit housing.
4. Insert the socket and bulb into the housing until the socket is firmly seated.
5. Rotate the socket clockwise about 30 degrees to lock it into place.
6. Reinstall the rear lamp unit onto the end of the quarter panel. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/LAMPS/LIGHTING - EXTERIOR/REAR LAMP UNIT - DOMESTIC - INSTALLATION).
7. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
BULB - EXPORT

NOTE: The rear lamp unit for export markets contains three bulbs: park/rear side marker/stop, park/turn signal and backup. The service procedures for each bulb are the same, only the bulb sizes and types may differ.

1. Align the base of the bulb (1) with the park/rear side marker/stop, park/turn signal or the backup lamp socket (2).
2. Push the bulb straight into the socket until the base is firmly seated.
3. Align the socket and bulb with the opening in the socket plate on the back of the rear lamp unit housing.

4. Push the socket and bulb into the housing until both latch features (1) on the socket are fully engaged with the socket plate.
5. Reinstall the rear lamp unit onto the end of the quarter panel. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/LAMPS/LIGHTING - EXTERIOR/REAR LAMP UNIT - EXPORT - INSTALLATION).
6. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
LAMP - DOMESTIC

1. Position the rear lamp unit to the lamp opening of the quarter outer panel.
2. Reconnect the two wire harness connectors to the two bulb sockets on the back of the lamp housing.
3. Engage the retainer on the wire harness for the lamp into the tab on the back of the lamp housing.
4. Check to be certain that the two grommets (5) are in good condition and properly installed in the quarter outer panel (1).
5. Align the two ball studs (4) on the outboard side of the lamp housing (3) with the two grommets in the quarter outer panel.
6. Using hand pressure, push firmly and evenly on the outboard side of the lamp until both ball studs snap into the grommets.
7. Install the two plastic push-pin fasteners (2) that secure the rear lamp unit to the side jamb of the liftgate opening.
8. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
LAMP - EXPORT

1. Position the rear lamp unit to the lamp opening of the quarter outer panel.
2. Reconnect the wire harness connector to the socket plate on the back of the lamp housing.
3. Engage the retainer on the wire harness for the lamp into the tab on the back of the lamp housing.

4. Check to be certain that the two grommets (5) are in good condition and properly installed in the quarter outer panel (1).
5. Align the two ball studs (4) on the outboard side of the lamp housing (3) with the two grommets in the quarter outer panel.
6. Using hand pressure, push firmly and evenly on the outboard side of the lamp until both ball studs snap into the grommets.
7. Install and tighten the two screws (2) that secure the rear lamp unit to the side jamb of the liftgate opening. Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (20 in. lbs.).
8. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
