Diagnostic trouble codes

DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU receives signals regarding the swerve-angle from the steering angle sensor in the steering wheel.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE


1. CHECK DTC (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM)

  1. Check that no DTC for steering sensor trouble code (Brake Control System) is output.

2. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

  1. Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the intelligent tester.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR - AFS ECU)

  1. E106823E07
    Disconnect the J23 steering angle sensor connector.

  1. Disconnect the A27 AFS ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		 Condition
    		 Specified Condition
    J23-7 (SS1-) - A27-8 (SS-)
    		 Always
    		 Below 1 Ω
    J23-8 (SS1+) - A27-7 (SS+)
    		 Always
    		 Below 1 Ω
    A27-8 (SS1-) - Body ground
    		 Always
    		 10 kΩ or higher
    A27-7 (SS1+) - Body ground
    		 Always
    		 10 kΩ or higher

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

4. CHECK AFS ECU

  1. E106824E28
    Reconnect the A27 AFS ECU connector.

  1. Measure the voltage of the connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		 Condition
    		 Specified Condition
    A27-7 (SS+) - A27-8 (SS-)
    		 Engine switch on (IG)
    		 Approx. 5 V

REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

REPLACE AFS ECU
