REMOVAL

Removal / installation


1. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER" (Click here).


2. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL" (Click here).


3. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Pull up the parking brake claw.

  1. Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake.

  1. Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake.


4. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

    Remove the 2 nuts and the No. 2 differential support protector.


5. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

HINT:
Removal procedure of the No. 1 differential support protector is the same as that of the No. 2 differential support protector.


6. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

7. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. G032829
    Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Hang the caliper with wire or equivalent.

  1. Remove the No. 1 caliper plate (2 pieces).


8. REMOVE REAR DISC

  1. Release the parking brake.

    Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.

  1. Remove the rear disc.

    HINT:
    If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns smoothly.


9. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING

    Using SST, remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe return spring.

10. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING

  1. C104640E01
    Using SST, remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe return spring.

11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET

    Slide the parking brake shoe, and remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.


12. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY

    Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.

  1. Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.

    HINT:
    Use the service hole to retain the No. 1 hold down spring pin with your finger.


13. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY

    Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.

  1. Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.

    HINT:
    Use the service hole to retain the No. 1 hold down spring pin with your finger.


14. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

    Remove the parking brake shoe lever.


15. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the 3 bolts and disengage the 2 clamps and No. 2 parking brake cable assembly LH.

  1. Separate the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly LH from the parking brake equalizer.

    Remove the 2 nuts and No. 2 parking brake cable assembly.

    Remove the 2 cable support brackets from the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly.
