REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 3UR-FE FUEL: FUEL INJECTOR: REMOVAL (2008 LX570)+

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

3. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the exhaust manifold 3UR-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: EXHAUST MANIFOLD: REMOVAL (2008 LX570) .

4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT

(a) Remove the camshaft 3UR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: CAMSHAFT: REMOVAL (2008 LX570) .

5. REMOVE NO. 1 VALVE ROCKER ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY 3UR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE UNIT: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

6. REMOVE VALVE LASH ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY 3UR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE UNIT: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

7. REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP 3UR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE UNIT: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

8. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


(a) Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.


(b) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.

HINT:

Be sure to arrange the removed parts for each installation position separately.

NOTICE:

  • Be careful not to drop washers into the cylinder head.
  • Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.

(c) Remove the cylinder head and gasket.

9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH


(a) Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.


(b) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.

HINT:

Be sure to arrange the removed parts for each installation position separately.

NOTICE:

  • Be careful not to drop washers into the cylinder head.
  • Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.

(c) Remove the cylinder head and gasket.
