REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
-
w/ Navigation System:
After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
.
3. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the exhaust manifold
.
4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT
(a) Remove the camshaft
.
5. REMOVE NO. 1 VALVE ROCKER ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE VALVE LASH ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP
8. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

(b) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.
HINT:
Be sure to arrange the removed parts for each installation position separately.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to drop washers into the cylinder head.
-
Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.

(c) Remove the cylinder head and gasket.
9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

|
(b) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.
HINT:
Be sure to arrange the removed parts for each installation position separately.
