REPLACEMENT

HINT:

  • Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL LH

2. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE SHAFT: REMOVAL (2008 LX570)+

3. REMOVE REAR DISC LH BRAKE (FRONT): FRONT BRAKE: REMOVAL (2008 LX570)+

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

5. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

6. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

8. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT LH

(a) Using SST and a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the axle hub, remove the hub bolt.

SST: 09650-17011

NOTICE:

  • Do not deform the oil deflector.
  • Make sure to align the notch of SST with the flange of the oil deflector.

9. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT LH

(a) Temporarily install a washer and hub nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:

Install a hub nut to prevent damage to the hub bolt.

(b) Using a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the hub, turn the hub nut until the bottom surface of the hub bolt head touches the axle hub.

(c) Remove the washer and hub nut.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the threads of the hub bolt.

10. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

11. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

12. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

13. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

14. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

15. INSTALL REAR DISC LH PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY (2008 LX570)+

16. CONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE SHAFT: INSTALLATION (2008 LX570)+

17. CHECK PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM: ADJUSTMENT (2008 LX570)+

18. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM: ADJUSTMENT (2008 LX570)+

19. INSTALL REAR WHEEL LH

Torque: 131 N·m (1336 kgf·cm, 97 ft·lbf)
