P0AF8 HV battery voltage drop

Diagnostic trouble codes

DESCRIPTION

  1. The HV control ECU detects error signals, alerts the driver, and performs fail-safe control based on the detected signals.
  2. This DTC is output if the HV battery is discharged, the HV control system has a malfunction, or the shift lever is left in the N position.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

If the battery smart unit detects voltage drop in the HV battery, the HV control ECU illuminates the MIL and sets a DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE


1. READ OUTPUT DTC (HV)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

  1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / DTC.

  1. Read output DTCs. (Click here)

    Result:
    DTCs other than P0AF8, P3000-388 and P3000-389 are output.

GO TO DTC CHART
NO


2. CHECK ENGINE START
  1. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state. Check if the engine starts.

    Result:
    The engine starts.



YES
LEAVE VEHICLE IN P POSITION, AND CHARGE HV BATTERY IN IDLE STATUS UNTIL IDLING STOPS
NO

REPLACE HV BATTERY ASSEMBLY
