Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the
wheels.
Before disconnecting the stabilizer bar link, on
all except MX-3, measure the length of the threads protruding above the
locknut. Remove the nuts and through-bolt to disconnect the stabilizer
bar.
Remove the nuts and bolts as required and remove
the control arms.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure
to properly adjust the stabilizer bar before tightening the locknuts and
check rear wheel alignment.
Torque the following:
Inner control arm through-bolt to 70 ft. lbs.
(95 Nm).
Outer control arm through-bolt to 86 ft. lbs.
(117 Nm).
Trailing arm-to-body bolt to 69 ft. lbs. (93
Nm).
Trailing arm-to-knuckle bolt to 86 ft. lbs. (117
Nm).
Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the
wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove the access cap from the underside of the rear
crossmember.
Remove the bolts and nuts and remove the lateral
links and trailing link. If removing the rear lateral link, paint and
alignment mark on the cam plate and crossmember for assembly reference.
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Tighten the inner and outer lateral link bolts/nuts to 86 ft. lbs. (116
Nm). Tighten the trailing link-to-body bolt to 68 ft. lbs. (93 Nm) and
the trailing link-to-knuckle bolt to 86 ft. lbs. (116 Nm).
Do not final tighten the bolts until the vehicle
is on the ground and at normal ride height.
Raise and safely support the vehicle, and remove
the rear wheels.
Disconnect the stabilizer bar link, and the lower
strut mounting bolt from the lower arm.
Remove the nuts, eccentric bolts, and the outer through-bolt. Remove
the lower control arm. The bushings can be replaced separately.
WARNING
If removing the upper control arm, either re-install the lower control
arm or remove the brake caliper, halfshaft and hub carrier. Do not allow
the carrier to be supported only by the halfshaft.
To install:
Position the lower control arm, and loosely install
the mounting bolts.
Loosely install the lower strut mounting bolt.
Connect the stabilizer bar link, and loosely tighten
the nut and bolt.
Install the rear wheels, and lower the vehicle.
After the vehicle is lowered, torque the lower arm
eccentric bolts to 54-70 ft. lbs. (73-95 Nm). Torque the lower arm outer
through-bolt to 47-54 ft. lbs. (63-74 Nm). Tighten the strut bolt to 54-68
ft. lbs. (73-93 Nm), and the link bolt to 27-39 ft. lbs. (37-53 Nm).
Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the
wheel.
Remove the nuts and bolt for the trailing link and
remove the trailing link.
Remove the adjusting cam bolt assembly.
Remove the nut and bolt for the I-arm assembly and
remove the I-arm.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the
I-arm mounting bolt and the trailing link bolt to 44-54 ft. lbs. (59-73
Nm). Torque the adjusting cam bolt to 69-86 ft. lbs. (94-116 Nm).
