Engine Fan

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. If necessary for access, remove the coolant recovery reservoir.
  3. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, disconnect and plug the transaxle cooler lines.
  4. Detach the electrical connector from the coolant fan motor.

  5. Remove the mounting bolts, fan and shroud assembly from the vehicle.

    Fig. 3: . . . then pull the fan assembly up and out of the vehicle

  6. Remove the fan blade retainer nut from the shaft on the fan motor and separate the fan from the motor.
  7. If motor replacement is necessary, remove the motor-to-shroud attaching screws, then separate the motor from the shroud.

    To install:

  8. If removed, position the motor to the shroud and secure with the mounting bolts.
  9. Install the fan to the motor shaft and secure with the retainer nut.
  10. Install the fan and shroud assembly into the engine compartment and secure to the radiator.
  11. Attach the fan motor electrical connector.
  12. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, unplug and connect the transaxle cooler lines.
  13. If removed, install the coolant recovery reservoir.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable and inspect the cooling fan for proper operation.
