    To install:

  7. Check that the blower motor shaft is not bent and that the packing is in good condition. Clean all parts of dust, etc.
  8. Assemble the motor and fan. Install the blower motor then connect the motor terminals to battery voltage. Check that the blower motor operates smoothly. Then, reverse the polarity and check that the blower motor operates smoothly in the reverse direction.

  10. Connect the negative battery cable and check the climate control system for proper operation.
1995–98 Vehicles
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the stopper, then lower the glove compartment assembly.

    CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.

  3. If necessary, remove the blower resistor.
  4. For non-turbo vehicles equipped with A/C, unfasten the retainers, then remove the automatic compressor ECM from the vehicle.
  5. Unfasten the retaining bolts, then remove the blower motor and fan from the vehicle.
  6. If necessary to remove the entire blower unit, perform the following:
    1. Remove the instrument panel, as outlined in Section 10 of this manual.
    2. Remove the retaining clip by using a Philips-head screwdriver to push the pin (in the center of the clip) inward about 0.08 in. (2mm) , then pull the clip out to remove it.

      WARNING
Do not push the pin in more than necessary because the grommet may be damaged, or the pin may fall in.

  7. For vehicles without A/C, remove the joint duct.
  8. If equipped with A/C, unfasten the cooling until bolts and nuts.
  9. Remove the blower unit assembly from the vehicle.
