Windshield Washer Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Front
1990–94 VEHICLES
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the washer nozzle and detach the harness connector from the pump motor, if accessible.
  3. Disconnect the washer tube.
  4. Partially raise and support the vehicle, then remove the driver's side wheel and tire assembly.
  5. Remove the front splash shield extension from the left front wheel well area. Unplug the pump motor harness, if still connected.

  6. Remove the tank retainers and the tank from the vehicle. Remove the washer motor assembly from the tank and replace as required.
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
1995–98 VEHICLES
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. For non-turbo vehicles, remove the brake master cylinder reservoir mounting bolt.
  3. Remove the retaining bolt, then remove the washer tank from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the washer motor from the vehicle.
  5. If necessary, remove the washer tank bracket.
  6. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Rear
1990–94 VEHICLES
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the rear side trim panel.
  3. Disconnect the electrical harness from the reservoir.
  4. Remove the reservoir retainers. Disconnect the fluid feed tubes at the tank and remove.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
1995–98 VEHICLES
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left side quarter upper and lower trim panels, then remove the rear end trim, rear side trim and liftgate upper trim.
  3. Remove the washer nozzle.
  4. Remove the joint assembly and tube assembly.
  5. For turbo vehicles, remove the tube assembly and remove the spare tire.
  6. Unfasten the retainers, then remove the rear washer tank and motor.
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
