Front Cover Seal

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
  3. Raise and support the engine to take the weight off of the engine mount.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
  5. Pry out the crankshaft seal using a suitable tool.

    To install:

  6. Using a driver tool, install the new crankshaft seal.
  7. Install or connect the following:
Diamante
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
  3. Pry the seal from the bore, using a suitable tool.

    To install:

  4. Using a seal driver, install the new crankshaft seal. Lubricate the lips of the seal with clean engine oil.

  5. Install or connect the following:
Eclipse
2.0L AND 2.4L ENGINES
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
  3. Carefully pry the oil seal out of the front case. Be careful not to damage the oil seal bore or the crankshaft sealing surface.

    To install:

  4. Apply clean engine oil to the oil seal lip. Using a seal driver, install the oil seal.
  5. Install or connect the following:

Mirage
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
  3. Pry out the oil seal from front of engine.

    To install:

  4. Using proper size driver, install a new front seal.
  5. Lubricate the lips of the new seal with clean engine oil.
  6. Install or connect the following:
