To Install:
| Oil pump parts and torque specifications
|
- Before installing the oil pump inner and outer rotors, apply clean engine oil to the rotors. When installing the rotors, make sure the alignment marks made at removal line up.
- Install the oil pump cover.
- Install the O-ring.
- To install the oil pump case, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Remove the sealant from the cylinder block and oil pump.
- Step 2: Apply a .118 in (3mm) diameter bead of sealant (Mitsubishi Genuine #MD970389 or equivalent) to the oil pump case. Install the oil pan within 15 minutes, while sealant is still wet.
- Step 3: After installation, keep the sealed area away from the oil and Coolant for about 1 hour.
- Install the crankshaft oil seal by using the special tool (MD998717) to knock the oil seal into the oil pump case. Make sure to knock the seal in until it is completely based.
- Install relief spring and relief plunger.
- Install the plug.
- Install curved baffle plate.
- Install oil screen and gasket.
- Install flat baffle plate.
- To install the Upper Oil Pan and bolts, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Clean the gasket surfaces of the cylinder block and Upper Oil Pan.
- Step 2: Apply a .157 in (4 mm) diameter bead of sealant (Mitsubishi Genuine #MD970389 or equivalent) to the oil pump case. Install the oil pan within 15 minutes, while the sealant is still wet.
