Transmission Fluid

Fluid Level Checking

Check fluid level
  1. Drive the vehicle until the transmission fluid temperature reaches the operating temperature 158 - 176°F (70 - 80°C).
  2. Place the vehicle on a level floor.
  3. Move the selector lever sequentially to every position to fill the torque converter and hydraulic circuit with fluid, then place the lever in the NEUTRAL position. This procedure is required to be sure that the fluid level check is accurate.
  4. Before removing the dipstick, wipe any dirt and debris off of the area around dipstick. Take out the dipstick and check the condition of the fluid.
Examine the transaxle further if you notice any of the following:
  5. Check to see if fluid level is in the "HOT" range on dipstick. If fluid level is low, add ATF until the fluid level reaches the "HOT" range.
  6. Make sure to closely examine the fluid on the dipstick.
