- Raise and safely support the front wheels.
- Disable the ignition system by disconnecting the ignition coil(s).
- Add power steering fluid to the reservoir as needed.
- Crank the engine and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right five or six times.
- Connect the connectors to the ignition coils so the engine will run and start the engine.
- Turn the steering wheel left and right until there are no air bubbles in the reservoir.
- Make sure the fluid is not milky, and at the correct level.
- Check that there is very little change in the fluid level while turning the steering wheel left and right.
- Check that the change in fluid level is no more than 0.2 inch (5 mm) when the engine is stopped and when it is running.
NOTE: If the fluid level rises more then specified when the engine is stopped, there is still air in the system. Air in the system will cause abnormal noises from the pump and the flow-control valve, and may reduce the life of the power steering components. Continue to bleed the air from the system.
