Heater Unit, Heater Core, Blower Assembly & Evaporator Unit

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the instrument panel for evaporator service.

CAUTION
Do not knock or bump the SRS control unit while working on the dashboard and related components.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove the instrument panel.
  4. Remove the front seat assembly.
  5. Remove the floor console.
  6. Remove the front floor carpet.
  7. Remove the steering shaft mounting bolts.
  8. Remove the front deck crossmember.
  9. Disconnect the heater hoses.
  10. Disconnect the refrigerant lines. Cap the open lines to prevent dirt and moisture from entering.
  11. Remove the center duct.
  12. Remove the heater unit.
  13. Remove the intake duct.
  14. Remove the blower assembly.

To Install:

  1. Install the blower assembly.
  2. Install the intake duct.
  3. Install the heater unit.
  4. Install the center duct.
  5. Connect the refrigerant lines with new o-rings. Apply refrigerant oil to the o-rings.
  6. Connect the heater hoses.
  7. Install the front deck crossmember.
  8. Install the steering shaft mounting bolts.
  9. Install the front floor carpet.
  10. Install the floor console.
  11. Install the front seat assembly.
  12. Install the instrument panel.
  13. Refill the cooling system.
  14. Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
