To Remove:
| Thermostat removal/installation (2.0L)

- Drain the engine coolant.
NOTE: When disconnecting the radiator lower hose connection, put mating marks on the radiator lower hose and hose clamp before you disconnect them.
- Mark the position of the clamp on the hose and disconnect the hose from the water inlet fitting.
- Move the oxygen sensor wiring out of the way.
- Remove the water inlet fitting.
- Remove the thermostat.
To Install:
- Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Make sure not to fold or scratch the rubber ring.
CAUTION
Be certain that no oil gets onto the rubber ring of the thermostat. Also be cautious not to scratch or fold the rubber ring as you install it.
- Install the water inlet fitting.
- Install the oxygen sensor wiring in the original position.
- When connecting the radiator lower hose connection, do the following:
- Step 1: Insert each hose as far as the projection on the water inlet fitting will go.
- Step 2: Line up the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, then connect the radiator hose.
- Refill the cooling system.
To Remove:

- Remove the under cover.
- Drain the engine coolant.
- Remove the intake air duct.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable.
- Move the wiring harness out of the way.
- Remove the vacuum hose and pipe assembly.
NOTE: When disconnecting the radiator lower hose connection, put mating marks on the radiator lower hose and hose clamp before you disconnect them.
- Mark the position of the clamp on the hose and disconnect the hose from the water inlet fitting.
- Remove the water inlet fitting.
- Remove the thermostat.
To Install:
- Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Make sure not to fold or scratch the rubber ring.

Be certain that no oil gets onto the rubber ring of the thermostat. Also be cautious not to scratch or fold the rubber ring as you install it.
- Install the water inlet fitting.
- When connecting the radiator lower hose connection, do the following:
- Step 1: Insert each hose as far as the projection on the water inlet fitting will go.
- Step 2: Line up the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, then connect the radiator hose.
- Install the vacuum hose and pipe assembly.
- Install the wiring harness in the original position.
- Connect the accelerator cable.
- Install the air duct work.
- Install the under cover.
- Refill the cooling system.
To Remove:

- Drain the engine coolant.
- Remove the air cleaner.
NOTE: When disconnecting the radiator lower hose connection, put mating marks on the radiator lower hose and hose clamp before you disconnect them.
- Remove the battery and tray.
- Mark the position of the clamp on the hose and disconnect the hose from the water inlet fitting.
- Move the wiring harness out of the way.
- Remove the water inlet fitting.
- Remove the thermostat.
To Install:
- Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Make sure not to fold or scratch the rubber ring.

- Install the water inlet fitting.
- Install the wiring harness in the original position.
- When connecting the radiator lower hose connection, do the following:
- Step 1: Insert each hose as far as the projection on the water inlet fitting will go.
- Step 2: Line up the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, then connect the radiator hose.
- Install the battery tray and battery.
- Install the air cleaner.
- Refill the cooling system.
