Knock Sensor (KS)

Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine

To Remove:

NOTE: Perform the Learn Value Reset procedure with a scan tool after engine, knock sensor or throttle body replacement.

1. Remove the intake manifold stay.
2. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring connector.
3. Remove the knock sensor from the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.

To Install:

1. Install the knock sensor in the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.
2. Connect the knock sensor wiring connector.
3. Install the intake manifold stay.

2.0L Turbo Engine

To Remove:

NOTE: Perform the Learn Value Reset procedure with a scan tool after engine, knock sensor or throttle body replacement.

1. Remove the intake manifold stay.
2. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring connector.
3. Remove the knock sensor from the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.

To Install:

1. Install the knock sensor in the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.
2. Connect the knock sensor wiring connector.
3. Install the intake manifold stay.

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

NOTE: Perform the Learn Value Reset procedure with a scan tool after engine, knock sensor or throttle body replacement.

1. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring connector.
2. Remove the knock sensor wiring clamp and harness clamps.
3. Remove the intake manifold stay.
4. Remove the knock sensor from the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.

To Install:

1. Install the knock sensor in the engine block using special socket MD998773 or equivalent.
2. Install the intake manifold stay.
3. Install the knock sensor wiring clamp and harness clamps.
4. Connect the knock sensor wiring connector.
