The evaporator core and other components are located within the casing. In all cases, the casing must be opened for access to the various parts. Use a broad tool wrapped in a cloth to remove the clips. Use of an unpadded tool may damage or break the case. Check the case carefully for any hidden screws holding the halves together.
The best theory to apply during disassembly is removing the case from the evaporator, not the evaporator from the case. Once the components are exposed, the air-flow sensor, expansion valve, thermostat and/or insulating panels will need removal. Use a few simple rules to guide your work:
After components are replaced, reassemble the case halves around the evaporator core. Make certain the case fits exactly as it should; the correct air flow around the core is crucial. An air leak from a poorly fitted case could upset the system function. Install all the clips properly and the small case screws if any were used.
