REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Pick-Up

1. Remove the assist strap's retaining screws, then remove the assist strap from the headliner.
2. Remove the sun visor and the sun visor hardware from the headliner.

3. Remove the inside rear view mirror retaining screws and remove the mirror from the headliner.
4. Remove the door opening trim which is facing the front pillar trim. With a plastic trim stick, pry out the clips to remove the front pillar trim.

5. Remove the dome light from the headliner. Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the dome light.
6. On vehicles with a sunroof, remove the headlining trim around the sunroof.
7. Insert the trim stick into the headlining and pry out the headlining attaching clips to remove it.

   To install:

8. Hold the headliner in place and push the clips back into their holes until they clip in place.
9. Install the headlining trim around the sunroof opening.
10. Plug the dome light connector back together and install the dome light to the headliner.
11. Push the front pillar trim back in place and install the door opening trim.
12. Install the inside rear view mirror, the sun visors and the assist strap to the headliner.

Montero

1. Remove the room lamp, map lamp, luggage compartment lamp and sunroof switch, if so equipped, from the headliner.
2. Remove the sun visors and related hardware from the headliner.
3. Remove the inside rear view mirror.

4. Remove the rear roof rail trim, the quarter trim upper, the center pillar trim upper, the side roof rail trim, and the front pillar trim.
5. On vehicles equipped with a sunroof, remove the headlining trim from around the sunroof opening.
6. Remove the rear headliner, then the front headliner. Make certain to correctly remove the retainer clips.
7. Remove the joint bracket.

   To install:

8. Start by installing the joint bracket to the ceiling of the vehicle.
9. Install the front headliner, making sure to install all of the retaining clips. Install the rear headliner.
10. On sunroof equipped vehicles, install the headlining trim around the sunroof opening.
11. Install the front pillar trim, the side roof rail trim, the center pillar trim upper, quarter trim upper, and the rear roof rail trim.
12. Install the sun visors and related equipment to the headliner.
13. Install the sunroof switch and the inside rear view mirror to the headliner.
14. Install the room lamp, the map lamp, and the luggage compartment lamps.
