Code No. P0966: Malfunction of Secondary Pressure Solenoid Valve (low input)
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
If a predetermined current does not flow into the secondary pressure solenoid valve (short to earth), the CVT-ECU will determine the system is defective.
 
 
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
The solenoid valve drive circuit remains short to earth for 0.48 seconds.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the valve body assembly (Faulty secondary pressure solenoid valve)
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of CVT-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check for short to earth in SCLS line between the CVT assembly connector and the CVT-ECU connector
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.
 
STEP 2. Secondary pressure solenoid valve check
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. Check for short to earth in power supply line between the CVT assembly connector and the valve body harness connector (secondary pressure solenoid valve line)
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Replace the valve body assembly (Refer to ).
Replace the valve body harness (Refer to ).
 
STEP 4. Symptom recheck after erasing diagnosis code
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the CVT-ECU.
