Inspection Procedure 1: Rear-view camera image is not correctly displayed.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the rear-view camera or radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS>, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit, and the communication circuit are normal (Check that the voltage is 10 V or more).
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
When the screen of rear-view camera is not shown even if the sift lever <M/T> or selector lever <CVT> is "R" (Reverse) position, the rear-view camera, the radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio>, the multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS>, the ETACS-ECU, the wiring harness, connectors, back-up lamp switch <M/T> or inhibitor switch <CVT> may be defective.
 
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the rear-view camera
  • Malfunction of the radio and CD player <Vehicles with display audio> or the multivision display <Vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS>
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Malfunction of the back-up lamp switch <M/T> or the inhibitor switch <CVT>
  • Malfunction of CAN bus line
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or the multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS> operation.
Check if the radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or the multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS> normally and the sound is output.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Troubleshoot the radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> (Refer to ) or multivision display (Refer to <vehicles with smartphone link display audio> or <vehicles with MMCS>).
 
STEP 2. Confirmation in radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS> service mode.
<Vehicles wit display audio>
  1. Display the "Vehicle Signal Check" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Move the sift lever <M/T> or selector lever <CVT> to the "R" (reverse) position.
  3. Check that "Shift Position R" is "ON."
<Vehicles wit smartphone link display audio>
  1. Display the "Vehicle Signal Info" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Move the sift lever <M/T> or selector lever <CVT> to the "R" (reverse) position.
  3. Check that "Reverse" is "ON."
<Vehicles wit MMCS>
  1. Display the "Vehicle Signal Check" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Move the sift lever <M/T> or selector lever <CVT> to the "R" (reverse) position.
  3. Check that "Shift Position R" is "ON."
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. M.U.T.-IIISE CAN bus diagnostics.
Use the M.U.T.-IIISE to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).
 
STEP 4. M.U.T.-IIISE ETACS system data list.
Check the input signal of back-up lamp switch <M/T> or inhibitor switch <CVT>.
  • Move the sift lever <M/T> or selector lever <CVT> to the "R" (reverse) position.

Go to Step 7.
Refer to ETACS Inspection Procedure 19 "The back-up lamp switch <M/T> or inhibitor switch <CVT> signal is not received ."
 
STEP 5. Confirmation in radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS> service mode.
<Vehicles wit display audio>
  1. Display the "External Device Connection Check" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Check that "Rear Camera" is "OK."
<Vehicles wit smartphone link display audio>
  1. Display the "Communication Check" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Check that "Rear Camera" is "OK."
<Vehicles wit MMCS>
  1. Display the "Communications & Connection Check" screen (Refer to ).
  2. Check that "Rear Camera" is "OK."
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.
 
STEP 6. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in CACC, CGND, CMP+ and CMP- lines between radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS> connector and rear-view camera connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. (Replace the harness assembly because the aluminium harness cannot be repaired.)
 
STEP 7. Trouble symptom recheck.
Check that the display of rear-view camera is shown normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Replace the rear-view camera temporarily and go to Step 8.
 
STEP 8. Trouble symptom recheck.
Check that the display of rear-view camera is shown normally.
Is the check result normal?
The diagnosis is complete.
Replace the radio and CD player <vehicles with display audio> or the multivision display <vehicles with smartphone link display audio or MMCS>.
