Dexron II® Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is recommended by Subaru for use in their automatic transaxle.
Unlike the standard transaxle, the lubricant supply in the automatic transaxle is separate from that in the drive axle. The fluid should be changed according to the schedule in the Maintenance Intervals chart. If the vehicle is normally used in severe service the interval should be more frequent. The fluid should be hot before it is drained. A short drive should accomplish this.
