On ff–1 and 1300G models, the wiper linkage is attached to the wiper
motor, and the two are removed as a complete assembly.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Unfasten the Phillips screw retaining the arms, and remove the arms.
- Remove the pivot installing nuts, rubber boots, and washers.
- Remove the instrument cluster, as detailed in this section. Disconnect the
wiper motor wiring.
- Remove both windshield wiper assembly retaining bolts and slide the motor
and linkage assembly out from behind the dash.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

- Remove the spare tire if it is in the way.
- Remove the windshield washer reservoir.
- Remove the screws which secure the motor to the firewall.
- Remove the wiper arms and cowl by unfastening their respective securing
nuts and screws.
- Disconnect the wiper motor wiring.
- Detach the clip which attaches the motor to the link, and remove the motor.
WARNING
On 1976–79 models the clip is secured by means of plastic prongs.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN WORKING WITH THESE PRONGS. If they are bent too
far they will become broken or distorted.

- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the wiper blades from the wiper arms by pulling the retainer lever
up and sliding the blade away from the arm.

- Slide the covering boot up the wiper arm.
- Remove the retaining nuts that hold the wiper arms to the linkage and remove
the arms.
- Disconnect the electric wires to the wiper motor.
- Remove the screws holding the cowl to the body. Remove the cowl.
- Find or fabricate a ring which has the same diameter as the outer diameter
of the plastic joint that retains the linkage to the wiper motor. Force the
ring down over the joint to force the four plastic retaining jaws inward,
and then disconnect and remove the linkage.
- Loosen the bolts securing the wiper motor, and remove it.
To install:
- Install the wiper motor and cycle the motor before installing the arms.
- Install the arms after the ignition switch has been on (wiper switch off)
for a few seconds to put the linkage in park position. Install the wiper unit
with the red marking on the driver's side.
