Inspect the brake shoes for excessive or uneven wear, fluid contamination, bent and/or broken parts and cracks. If any of these conditions exist, replace the brake shoes. Inspect the shoes for wear, rust or damage. On ff-1 and 1300G models, if the lining is worn down to 0.07 in. (1.8mm) or less, replace the shoes. On other models, the primary shoe lining limit is 0.03 (1mm) and the secondary shoe lining limit is 0.05 in. (1.5mm). Replace both brake shoes on the other side, as well, to prevent uneven braking.
