INSPECTION

  1. Clean the drum.
  2. Inspect the drum for scoring, grooves, cracks or out-of-roundness. Replace or turn the drum, as required.
  3. Light scoring may be removed by dressing the drum with fine emery cloth.
  4. Heavy scoring will require the use of a brake drum lathe to turn the drums. Turn the drums from both sides of the car an equal amount to avoid uneven braking. The service limits of the inside drum diameter are as follows:

    WARNING
On ff–1 and 1300G models when the drum is turned, the automatic adjusters may reach the end of their travel when the brake linings are only half worn. Replacement of the drums is the only cure.
