NOTE: Make sure the vehicle ignition is OFF.
- Remove the ignition coil cover, if equipped.
- Disconnect the high tension wire from the coil.
- Use a multimeter or suitable circuit tester and check the primary resistance
by connecting the meter ends to the positive and negative ends of the coil.
- If the resistance is not 0.84–1.02 ohms, replace the coil.
- Use a multimeter or suitable circuit tester and check the secondary resistance
by connecting the meter ends to the negative end and the high voltage terminal
of the coil.
- If the resistance is not 8.5–1.02 kilo-ohms, replace the coil.
- When complete, install the high tension wire and ignition coil cover, if
equipped.
