Oil Pan

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Front wheels
   • Ground cable from battery
   • Air intake duct and air cleaner case (non-turbo models)

     Mass Air Flow Sensor

   • Mass air flow sensor connector (turbo models)

     Air Intake Boot

   • Air intake boot (turbo models)
   • Air cleaner upper cover (turbo models)
   • Intercooler (turbo models)

     Engine torque strut

   • Engine torque strut

     Upper Radiator Brackets

   • Radiator upper brackets

4. Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
5. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove under cover.

   CAUTION
   When lifting up the vehicle, raise up the wire rope together.

7. Drain the engine oil.
8. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Front and center exhaust pipes (non-turbo models)

   • Front cushion rubber to front crossmember nuts
   • Oil pan to cylinder block bolts

   Oil Pan Cutter Blade

9. Insert the oil pan cutter blade between cylinder block-to-oil pan clearance.

   CAUTION
   Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool in place of oil pan cutter.

10. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Oil strainer
    • Baffle plate

To Install:

CAUTION
Before installing the oil pan, clean sealant from oil pan and engine block.

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Baffle plate
     1. Torque to: 4.7 ft. lbs. (6.4 Nm)
   • Oil strainer to baffle plate and replace the O-ring
     1. Torque to: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)
   • Oil pan and mounting bolts, applying liquid gasket to mating surfaces
     1. Torque to: 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm)
2. Lower the engine onto front crossmember and tighten the nuts.
   • Torque to: 51 ft. lbs. (69 Nm)
3. Install or connect the following:
   • Front and center exhaust pipe with new gasket (non-turbo models)
   • Under cover.

   CAUTION
   When lowering the vehicle, lower the lifting device and wire rope together.

4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the lifting device.
6. Install or connect the following:

   Engine torque strut

   • Engine torque strut
     1. T1 - Torque to: 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm)
     2. T2 - Torque to: 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm)

     Upper Radiator Brackets

   • Radiator upper brackets
   • Air intake duct and air cleaner case (non-turbo models)
   • Intercooler (turbo models)

     Air Intake Boot

   • Air intake boot (turbo models)
   • Air cleaner upper cover (turbo models)

     Mass Air Flow Sensor

   • Mass air flow sensor connector (turbo models)
   • Front wheels
   • Battery ground cable
7. Fill engine oil.
