Extension Housing Seal

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Transmission assembly
   • Rear speed sensor
3. Separate the transmission case and extension case.
4. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Transfer clutch
   • Transmission clutch pipe
   • Dust cover
   • Oil seal from extension case

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • New oil seal using special tool (498057300 or equivalent)
   • Dust cover
   • Transmission clutch pipe
   • Transfer clutch
   • Thrust bearing to reduction drive gear
   • New gasket
   • Extension case to transmission case
     1. Torque to: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)
   • Rear wheel speed sensor
     1. Torque to: 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm)
   • Transmission assembly
