ECM Removal and Installation

NOTICE:

The ECM is a precision unit and can be easily damaged.

Handle the ECM carefully and do not expose it to large shock.

Removal

1)When replacing ECM with new one, perform “Vehicle Information Upload” under Registration for ECM Replacement:D16AA.

2)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.

3)Remove windshield wiper assembly.

4)Remove ECM (1) with ECM connector.

5)Disconnect connectors from ECM as follows.

a)Turn lock lever (1) in arrow direction until it stops.

b)Disconnect connectors from ECM.

6)Remove ECM bracket No.2 (1) from ECM (2).

7)Remove ECM bracket No.1 (1).

Installation

Reverse removal procedure noting the following points.

•Connect connectors to ECM securely.
•When replacing ECM with new one, register vehicle information in ECM.

—Vehicle information upload is completed: “Vehicle Information Upload” under Registration for ECM Replacement:D16AA.
—Vehicle information upload is not completed: “Vehicle Information Manual Input” under Registration for ECM Replacement:D16AA.
