DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

P072A: Stuck in Neutral
TCM detects neutral position even if transmission range sensor signal is D range.
(1 D/C detection logic)
•Pressure control solenoid valve “A”, “B” and “D”
•Shift solenoid valve “A” and “B”
•Valve body assembly
•A/T (forward clutch, reverse clutch and/or 1st and reverse brake)
•TCM
P073E: Unable to Engage Reverse
TCM detects neutral position even if transmission range sensor signal is R range.
(2 D/C detection logic)
P073F: Unable to Engage Gear 1
TCM detects neutral position even if transmission range sensor signal is D range.
(2 D/C detection logic)
DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
•Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
•Perform the test extremely carefully.
•Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and a tester.
NOTE:
Troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.

1)Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2)Drive vehicle in D range for 10 sec.
P073E
1)Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2)Drive vehicle in R range for 10 sec.

ATF check
1)Check ATF for level and deterioration. icon

Go to Step 3.
Refill or change ATF. icon

Line pressure check
1)Check applicable line pressure as shown in the following table. icon

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace defective parts.

Solenoid valve check
1)Remove valve body assembly. icon 
2)Check applicable solenoid valve for proper operation as shown in the following table. icon 
Is check result OK?
Go to Step 5.
Replace valve body assembly.

Valve body check
1)Check that each fluid passage is not clogged in valve body assembly.
Is check result OK?
Check A/T mechanical systems (clutch, brake or gear etc.)
If OK, substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. icon 
Clean or replace valve body assembly. icon
