P1718: Unable To Engage Gear 1 With Engine Brake
Engine brake does not work at 1st gear when driving in M range.
(2 D/C detection logic)
•Line pressure control solenoid valve
•Pressure control solenoid valve “A”, “C” and “D”
•Shift solenoid valve “A” and “B”
•Valve body assembly
•A/T (forward clutch, direct clutch, reverse clutch, B1 brake and/or 1st and reverse brake)
•TCM
P1719: Gear 1 With Engine Brake Incorrect Ratio
Engine brake does not work at 1st gear when driving in M range.

DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
•Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
•Perform the test extremely carefully.
•Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and a tester.
NOTE:
•Check that the following conditions are met in this “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.
—DTC P0717, P0722, P1736, P1737, P1738, P1739, U0073 or U0100 is not detected.
—ECM: DTC P0335 is not detected.
•Troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.
1)Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2)Drive vehicle in 1st gear of M range.
3)Release accelerator pedal, and keep vehicle coasting in engine braking condition. (Fuel cut)
4)Repeat Steps 2) – 3) 5 times or more.

Line pressure check
1)Check applicable line pressure as shown in the following table. icon

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace defective parts.

Solenoid valve check
1)Remove valve body assembly. icon 
2)Check applicable solenoid valve for proper operation as shown in the following table. icon 
Is check result OK?
Go to Step 5.
Replace valve body assembly.

Valve body check
1)Check that each fluid passage is not clogged in valve body assembly.
Is check result OK?
Check A/T mechanical systems (clutch, brake or gear etc.).
If OK, substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. icon 
Clean or replace valve body assembly. icon
