Front Side-Impact Sensor Removal and Installation (8, 9 or 11-Channel Air Bag System)

WARNING:
Failure to take proper precautions when handling the air bag system sensors can result in personal injury due to non-deployed air bag system in the event of an accident or accidental air bag deployment.
•Never impact or shake the sensors.
Otherwise, proper operation of the sensors cannot be assured.
•Always tighten the mounting bolts to specified torque when installing the sensors. Otherwise, proper operation of the sensors cannot be assured.

Removal
1)Disable air bag system. 
2)Remove center pillar lower trim.
3)Disconnect front side-impact sensor connector (2) as follows.
a)Release locking slider (1) by sliding it in arrow direction “1”.
b)Disconnect front side-impact sensor connector by pulling it in arrow direction “2”.
4)Remove front side-impact sensor bolt (3) and remove front side-impact sensor (4) from side sill inner panel (5).
Installation
1)Check that none of the following faulty conditions exists.
•Bend, deformation or rust on side sill scuff
•Foreign material on sensor
•Foreign material on sensor
2)Align mounting pin (1) with mounting hole (2) of vehicle to install front side-impact sensor (3).
3)Tighten front side-impact sensor bolt to specified torque.
4)Connect front side-impact sensor connector securely.
5)Install center pillar lower trim.
6)Enable air bag system.
Market Code P02, P22, P24, P54 and P90
Removal
1)Disable air bag system.
2)Remove front door trim and door sealing cover.
3)Disconnect front side-impact sensor connector (1).
4)Remove front side-impact sensor screws (2) and remove front side-impact sensor (3) from front door.
Installation
1)Check that none of the following faulty conditions exists.
•Bend, deformation or rust on front door panel
•Foreign material on sensor
•Foreign material on sensor
2)Install front side-impact sensor (1) securely.
3)Tighten front side-impact sensor screws (2).
4)Connect front side-impact sensor connector securely.
5)Install door sealing cover and front door trim.
6)Enable air bag system.
