WARNING:
•RBS is a system to reduce the collision damage. Therefore, your vehicle may suffer a serious accident if accelerator pedal or brake pedal etc. is operated without care. It is necessary to pay enough attention for safety driving checking the surrounding traffic.
•Without observing the following precautions, a serious accident may occur by malfunction of RBS.
—Do not affix sticker including clear film over the millimeter wave radar cover located in front of the RBS control module.
—Do not drop or otherwise expose RBS control module to large shock. The RBS control module that has received large shock should be replaced.
—If peripheral component of the radiator grill is damaged, check the RBS control module and its bracket.
—When replacing radiator grill and millimeter wave radar cover, use SUZUKI genuine parts.
—Do not modify suspension. Modification of the vehicle’s height or inclination may affect correct detection of a vehicle ahead.
—Use tires of the specified size and same brand. Do not mix tires of different wear.
•Disable RBS when checking the vehicle on a brake tester or speedometer tester. Without disabling RBS, the system may malfunction.
Procedure to disable RBS can be selected among RBS OFF switch (on-board), ESP® OFF switch (on-board) and ESP® OFF operation by SUZUKI scan tool (Suzuki SDT-II).
NOTE:
•RBS works effectively for a vehicle ahead but may not work for the following items though there are some exceptions.
—Pedestrian and motorcycle.
—Animal, tree, etc.
•RBS may not work under the following conditions.
—The vehicle is in a collision avoidance operation using steering and accelerator pedal.
—The vehicle is tilted by heavy load on the luggage compartment or rear seat.
—The vehicle is likely to collide with a vehicle ahead partially (an offset collision).
—The vehicle is driven on a winding road continuously, or getting in or getting out of a corner.
—A vehicle ahead has a special appearance such as low platform truck or car carrier.
—A vehicle ahead is a bicycle carrier or the like and carrying particular load or equipment protruding right and left and/or rear and above.
—The millimeter wave radar cover is soiled with water droplets, snow or contaminant, etc.
—The vehicle is driven in a narrow traffic lane.
—A vehicle ahead is parking or running very slowly.
•RBS may work unexpectedly under the following cases.
—The vehicle passes ETC gate.
—The vehicle and an oncoming vehicle pass each other in a corner.
—There is a road sign such as “Pedestrian Overpass”, “Overhead Bridge” or “Guide Sign”.
—There is an obstacle on the road such as metal grating, falling object, protrusion or bump.
