REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column
.
1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
3. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
4. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH
5. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
6. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
7. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH
9. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR
10. DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT
11. DISPOSE OF TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
12. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
13. REMOVE STEERING RACK BOOT PROTECTOR LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and steering rack boot protector.
14. REMOVE STEERING RACK BOOT PROTECTOR RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
15. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Put matchmarks on the tie rod end LH and steering rack end.
(b) Measure length A and record the measurement.
(c) Remove the tie rod end.
16. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
17. DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the clamp and disconnect the pressure feed tube (return tube side) from the power steering link.

(b) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the pressure feed tube (pressure feed tube side) from the power steering link. |

(c) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the pressure feed tube clamp. |
18. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION REBOUND STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
19. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION REBOUND STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
20. REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 3 bolts, 3 nuts and power steering link.
