Inspection Procedure 5: When The ACC Distance Switch is Operated, The Distance from Vehicle Travelling in Front cannot be Changed.

cautionWhen the ACC/FCM-ECU is replaced, calibrate the radar (refer to ).

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The cause is probably an open circuit in the ACC distance switch system.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the clock spring.
  • Malfunction of the cruise control switch (integrated with ACC distance switch)
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU
  • Malfunction of ACC/FCM-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the ETACS system data list.
Using M.U.T.-IIISE, check the ETACS system data list (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Troubleshooting, data list reference table ).
  • Item No.116: ACC distance switch
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the cruise control switch (integrated with ACC distance switch).
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the cruise control switch (integrated with ACC distance switch) (Refer to ).

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in DST+ line between ETACS-ECU connector and clock spring connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in earth line between clock spring connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of open circuit in DST+ line between clock spring connector and cruise control switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check of open circuit in earth line between clock spring connector and cruise control switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check the clock spring.
Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring Inspection .
Is the check result normal?
Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS-ECU ).
Replace the clock spring, and install the driver’s air bag module [Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring ].

STEP 8. M.U.T.-IIISE data list.
Check the following data list (Refer to ).
  • Item No.23: ACC distance switch state
Is the check result normal?
It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ACC/FCM-ECU (Refer to ).
