Oil Pan and Oil Pump Strainer Removal and Installation

Precautions: General safety (00)

Removal
1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
2)Drain engine oil. icon 
3)Remove right side drive shaft. icon 
4)Remove exhaust No.1 pipe. icon 
5)For 4WD model, remove transfer. icon 
6)For 2WD model, remove drive intermediate shaft assembly. icon 
7)Remove engine oil vapor separator bolt (1).
8)Remove engine oil vapor separator hose (2) from oil pan.

9)Remove oil level gauge.
10)Remove engine torque No.2 rod. icon 
11)Loosen oil pan bolts evenly and gradually in numerical order (“1” through “14”) as shown in figure using special tool, and remove them.

(A): 09914–17910
(B): 09914–17920
12)Cut sealant using special tool and hammer.

13)Remove oil pan (1) from cylinder block.

14)Remove oil seal from oil pump.
15)Remove oil pan baffle plate (1).

16)Remove oil pump strainer (1).

Installation
1)Clean mating surfaces of oil pan and cylinder block.
2)Install oil pump strainer (1).

3)Install oil pan baffle plate (1).

4)Install new oil seal (1) to oil pump.

5)Apply sealant to oil pan mating surface continuously as shown in figure.
“A”: Sealant 16588–79J50 (DOW CORNING® 7091)

6)Install oil pan (1) to cylinder block, and tighten oil pan bolts evenly and gradually in numerical order (“1” through “14”) by repeating tightening procedure two or three times until specified torque is obtained.
Special Tool
(A): 09914–17910
(B): 09914–17920
Tightening torque
Oil pan bolt (M6)* (a): 9.0 N·m (0.92 kgf-m, 7.0 lbf-ft)
Oil pan bolt (M8)* (b): 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)

7)Install engine torque No.2 rod. icon 
8)Install oil level gauge.
9)Install engine oil vapor separator hose (2) with new O-ring to oil pan.
10)Tighten engine oil vapor separator bolt (1).

11)For 2WD model, install drive intermediate shaft assembly. icon 
12)For 4WD model, install transfer. icon 
13)Install exhaust No.1 pipe. icon 
14)Install right side drive shaft. icon 
15)Refill engine with engine oil. icon 
16)Connect negative (–) cable at battery.
