Water Pump Removal and Installation

Removal

1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.

2)Drain coolant.

3)Remove water pump / generator drive belt.

4)Remove water pump pulley (1).

5)Remove water pump (3) with generator bracket (2).

Installation

Reference: Water Pump Inspection:K14C

1)Clean mating surfaces of water pump and cylinder block.

2)Apply sealant to mating surface of water pump (1) as shown in figure.

“A”: Water tight sealant 99000–31250 (SUZUKI Bond No.1207F)

“a”:

3 mm (0.12 in.)

“b”:

2 mm (0.08 in.)

3)Within 2 minutes after applying sealant, install water pump (1) with generator bracket (2) to cylinder block and tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.

Tightening torque

Water pump bolt (a): 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)
Water pump nut (b): 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)

4)Install water pump pulley (3) and tighten bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque

Water pump pulley bolt (c): 20 N·m (2.0 kgf-m, 15.0 lbf-ft)

5)Install water pump / generator drive belt.

6)Connect negative (–) cable at battery.

7)Refill cooling system with coolant.

8)Check cooling system for leakage.
