High Pressure Fuel Pump Removal and Installation

Precautions: Precautions for Fuel System Service · General safety (00)

Before performing the following procedure, observe Precautions for Fuel System Service:K14C.
Removal
1)Release fuel pressure. icon 
2)Remove air cleaner assembly. icon 
3)Remove electric throttle body assembly. icon 
4)Remove high pressure pipe. icon 
5)Disconnect fuel feed hose No.2 from high pressure fuel pump.
6)Remove high pressure fuel pump (1) with high pressure fuel pump O-ring and fuel pump tappet (2).

Installation
1)Clean mating surfaces of high pressure fuel pump and camshaft housing.
2)Turn crankshaft so that notch (1) on crank pulley is positioned within range “b” and check that base circle (heel) of high pressure fuel pump cam is aligned with center line of high pressure fuel pump.

“a”: 10° “b”: 20°
3)Install fuel pump tappet noting the following points.
•Apply engine oil to roller and periphery of tappet.
•Insert tappet (1) aligning protrusion (2) with groove (3) in camshaft rear housing hole.

4)Apply engine oil to new O-ring and then fit it to high pressure fuel pump.
5)Install high pressure fuel pump (1) and tighten high pressure fuel pump bolts (2) as follows.
a)Tighten high pressure fuel pump bolts evenly until the pump is seated on the housing.
b)Tighten high pressure fuel pump bolts to 5.0 N·m (0.5 kgf-m, 4.0 lbf-ft).

c)Install new high pressure pipe and tighten high pressure fuel pump bolts to specified torque. icon 
6)Connect fuel feed hose No.2 to high pressure fuel pump as it was.
7)Install electric throttle body assembly. icon 
8)Install air cleaner assembly. icon 
9)Check for fuel leakage. icon
