DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

P0742: Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On
Difference between engine speed and input shaft speed is 30 rpm or less even if TCC solenoid valve is turned off.
(2 D/C detection logic)
•TCC solenoid valve
•Torque converter
•Valve body assembly
•TCM
DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
•Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
•Perform the test extremely carefully.
•Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and a tester.
NOTE:
•Check that the following condition is met in this “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.
—DTC P0741, P2762, P2763, P2764, U0073 or U0100 is not detected.
•Troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.
1)Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2)Drive vehicle at approx. 50 to 80 km/h (31 to 50 mile/h) in D range for 1 minute. (Keep accelerator pedal position constant in this step.)

Was “A/T Control System Check” performed?
Go to Step 2.

Scan tool parameter check
1)Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2)Drive vehicle at approx. 40 km/h (25 mile/h).
3)Check “Engine Speed” and “Input Shaft Revolution” using “Data list” mode on SUZUKI scan tool while depressing or releasing accelerator pedal at 2nd gear in M range. icon 
4)Check that difference between “Engine Speed” and “Input Shaft Revolution” is more than 30 rpm.
Is check result OK?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.

ATF check
1)Check ATF for level and deterioration. icon 
Is check result OK?
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. icon 
Refill or change ATF. icon 
4
TCC solenoid valve check
1)Remove valve body assembly. icon 
2)Check TCC solenoid valve for proper operation. icon 
Is check result OK?
Go to Step 5.
Replace valve body assembly.

Valve body check
1)Check that each fluid passage is not clogged in valve body assembly.
Is check result OK?
Go to Step 6.
Clean or replace valve body assembly. icon

Torque converter check
1)Replace torque converter. icon 
2)Clear DTC. icon 
3)Set ignition “OFF”.
4)Perform “DTC Confirmation Procedure”, and check DTC.
Is DTC P0742 still detected?
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. icon
