Parking Cable Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
Touching a hot exhaust system component will cause a burn.
Do not perform any service work on the parking cable until the exhaust system is cool.
Removal
1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
2)Remove floor console front cover. 
3)Disconnect parking cable from select lever and then detach it from bracket.
4)Remove air cleaner bracket.
5)Disconnect parking cable end (2) from parking lock shaft arm (1).
6)Disconnect parking cable (3) from parking cable bracket (4) while pulling quick joints (5) in arrow direction as shown in figure.
7)Remove parking cable and parking cable retainer from floor tunnel.
8)Remove parking lock shaft arm, if necessary.
Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following points.
•Install parking cable (1) facing mark (2) upward.
•Apply grease to pin and cable joint.
•Tighten bolts and nut to specified torque.
•Adjust parking cable.
