INSTALLATION - ENGINE ASSEMBLY
1. Position the engine in the vehicle.
2. Install both left and right side engine mounts onto engine.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Install the transmission bellhousing to engine mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 41 N·m (30ft. lbs.).
5. Tighten the engine mount thru bolts.
6. Connect the in block heater (if equipped).
7. Connect the knock sensor electrical connector.
8. Install the left and right exhaust manifolds.
9. Install the exhaust system and connect the O2 sensor.
10. Install the torque converter bolts, If equipped. Tighten the bolts to 88 N·m (65 ft.lbs.).
11. Install the flex plate inspection cover.
12. Install the starter.
13. Connect the coolant hose at the engine oil cooler.
14. Connect the oil pressure sending unit (OPS) wiring harness connector.
15. Connect the A/C lines and compressor electrical connector (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/A/C COMPRESSOR - INSTALLATION).
16. Route the engine harness to the left cylinder head and attach the purge solenoid.
17. Connect the engine sensor wiring harness connectors.
18. Connect the engine vacuum harnesses.
19. Connect the fuel line to the fuel rail.
20. Connect the generator electrical connectors (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/CHARGING/GENERATOR - INSTALLATION).
21. Connect the radiator, coolant reservoir and heater hoses.
22. Connect the throttle wiring harness.
23. Install the air cleaner housing and connect the CCV hose to the left cylinder head cover (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - INSTALLATION).
24. Fill the cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
25. Evacuate and recharge A/C system (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/REFRIGERANT - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
26. Install new oil filter. Fill engine crankcase with proper oil to correct level (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/FLUID TYPES - SPECIFICATIONS).
27. Connect negative cable to battery.
28. Fill the cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
29. Start engine and run until operating temperature is reached.
