Vacuum Pump Removal and Installation

Precautions: General safety (00)

NOTICE:
The vacuum pump will lose its original performance if it is disassembled.
Do not disassemble and repair the vacuum pump. If any faulty condition is found, replace the vacuum pump with a new one.
Removal
1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
2)Remove engine cover. icon 
3)Remove battery and battery tray from vehicle. icon 
4)Disconnect quick joint of brake booster hose (1) while pushing lock button.
5)Disconnect ECT sensor connector and A/F sensor-1 connector (2).
6)Remove intercooler outlet pipe.
7)Drain coolant. icon 
8)Remove thermostat (3). icon

9)Remove vacuum pump (1) from camshaft housing.

Installation
1)Clean mating surfaces of camshaft housing and vacuum pump.
2)Install new gasket (1) to vacuum pump.
3)Install vacuum pump (2) to camshaft housing.
Fit the dog clutch (3) of vacuum pump coupling into the slot (4) of camshaft.

4)Tighten new vacuum pump bolts (1) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Vacuum pump bolt (a): 11 N·m (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)

5)Connect brake booster hose and ECT sensor connector.
6)Install thermostat. icon 
7)Install battery and battery tray. icon 
8)Refill cooling system with coolant. icon 
9)Check cooling system for leakage. icon 
10)Install engine cover.
11)Connect negative (–) cable at battery.
