Torque Converter Housing Disassembly and Reassembly

Disassembly

1)Remove oil reservoir lock plate (1) and lubrication tube (2).

2)Remove differential side oil seal (1) using a flat-bladed screwdriver or the like.

3)Remove pinion and counter driven gear right taper roller bearing outer race using special tools.

4)Remove differential right taper roller bearing outer race using special tools.

5)Remove torque converter housing plugs (1).

Reassembly

1)After applying ATF to new O-rings, fit them to housing plugs. Then tighten torque converter housing plugs to specified torque.

Tightening torque

Torque converter housing plug (a): 7.5 N·m (0.76 kgf-m, 5.5 lbf-ft)

2)Using special tools, install new differential right taper roller bearing outer race.

3)Using special tool, install new pinion and counter driven gear right taper roller bearing outer race.

4)Using special tool (A) (2WD model) or special tool (B) (4WD model), install new differential side oil seal to torque converter housing evenly at specified position shown in figure.

Differential side oil seal installing depth “a”

2WD model: 18.6 – 19.6 mm (0.74 – 0.77 in.)

4WD model: 24.6 – 25.6 mm (0.97 – 1.01 in.)

5)Apply grease to oil seal lip.

: Grease 99000–25030 (SUZUKI Super Grease C)

6)Install oil reservoir lock plate (1) and lubrication tube (2) by tightening their mounting bolts and clamp bolt to specified torque.

Tightening torque

Oil reservoir lock plate bolt (a): 5.4 N·m (0.55 kgf-m, 4.0 lbf-ft)
Lubrication tube clamp bolt (b): 5.4 N·m (0.55 kgf-m, 4.0 lbf-ft)
